Good art can inspire, delight, provoke, revolt or startle. The brain grows when it faces challenges. In an overall perspective, art has an important role in social development, resisting the dark forces and superficial, material values. Art gives thoughts, stimulates the entrepreneurial spirit, builds sustainability and encourages consideration.
At OpenART, we create an energy field outside the traditional norms of elitist art. Here, the ambition is high and ideas are bold. Our work field stretches from Sweden and Europe to the entire world. We find inspiration in our international outreach and we learn to break patterns and raise the bar with every edition we organize.
For many, OpenART is a delightful experience. The participating artists acknowledge that they will be professionally treated and that they have an opportunity to develop themselves in an international art arena that has become a magnet for art aficionados and tourists. The artists and the people in Örebro become ambassadors that spread the word with pride.
OpenART is a collaboration between the private and the public sector. The attractiveness of our biennial results from our courage to strive for innovation and high quality. Therefore, it is always art and content that are the best voice for OpenART.

Cadavre Exquis Malmö
Cadavre Exquis Malmö was a conceptual combined mural and public art installation created by three artists and Artscape in the summer of 2015.
In 1437 AD the king of Sweden awarded the city of Malmö with the mighty griffin as the heraldic symbol of the municipality.
Six hundred years have passed and it is time for a remix!
Using a variation of the classic Exquisite Corpse technique popularized by the surrealist movement, ARTSCAPE invited three artists to each create a component of a brand new Malmö griffin. The original griffin of ancient mythology is part eagle and part lion, the kings of birds and beasts. ARTSCAPE decided to add a humble human to symbolise the people of Malmö. After creating three striking characters, each in a totally different style, the different segments of the wall were switched around to form three new incarnations of the city's symbol.

ARTSCAPE 2016 in Gothenburg was Scandinavia's largest urban art project to date. Permanent large-scale murals and other art was created in all of the city's ten boroughs.
Gothenburg, with its history of zero tolerance to any kind of street art, surprisingly invited Artscape to completely take over city and tie a geographically scattered urban area together through one encompassing culture project. The result was a great success and Artscape completed 18 pieces of public art, hosted an artist talk and had locals join in at workshops all over the city.
Involving all ten boroughs, from the city centre to the suburbs, was a groundbreaking concept showcasing what Artscape is all about: bringing art to the people!
Thanks to our team, partners and the people of Gothenburg for making it happen!
